The Society has a number of affinity relationships with local charities to raise money through savings accounts which give savers an attractive rate of interest, whilst every year the Society donates a percentage of the average daily account balances.
The Melton Building Society has donated over £8,853 to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance Service (DRLAA).
Collette Richardson, Fund Raising Manager, DRLAA said: “We’re delighted that the Melton Building Society has raised so much for their local lifesaving air ambulance. The money they have raised will enable us to fund over 5 lifesaving missions. The fundraising MMBS do really shows that a little each day, really does go a long way to helping keep our service in the skies.”
“The DLRAA provides a unique and extremely valuable service and we are proud to be able to make this donation,” said Martin Reason, Chief Executive, the Melton. “The Society raised the money through an affinity savings account which gives savers an attractive rate of interest, whilst every year the Society donates a percentage of the average daily account balances to the DLRAA”.
The Melton Building Society has donated £6,364 to Hft – a leading national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. The Melton raised the money through an online affinity savings account which gives savers an attractive rate of interest, whilst every year the Society also donates a percentage of the average daily account balances to Hft.
“Hft is very grateful to the Melton for helping us to fund some of our special projects and the money will be spent on community support activities,” said Lucy Baxter, Donor Partnership Manager, Hft. “Most people like to enjoy an active and varied social life, but people with learning disabilities can become isolated. Hft works with local community groups to organise a wide range of events and activities and we help people with learning disabilities to make social plans of their own – from surfing to singing. The support the Melton has given us will help more people to build their confidence, try something new, and have fun.”
The Melton has donated over £8,853 to LOROS Hospice. The Society raised the money through an affinity savings account which gives savers an attractive rate of interest, whilst every year the Society donates a percentage of the average daily account balances to LOROS.
LOROS Hospice is a local charity that provides free high quality care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their families and carers. “Each year LOROS needs to raise a minimum of £4.5m to continue providing our services free of charge to over 2,500 local patients,” says Diane Morris, Fundraising Manager of LOROS. “This can only be made possible with help from local businesses and the public. We are thrilled to receive this generous donation from the Melton Building Society and would like to thank them and their customers for their marvellous support.”
