Community Support from The Melton Building Society

New Wildlife Pond for Local School

Pupils at St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Melton can now enjoy their wildlife pond thanks to the work of the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust Grow Wild Team. The work was sponsored by the Melton Building Society to enable children to learn outside and broaden their knowledge and understanding of the natural world.

“The pond was very overgrown and unusable,” said Frances Port, teacher, St Mary’s Primary School. “Thanks to the generous support of the Melton Building Society our pupils can now not only learn about nature and wildlife in the classroom, but also experience it for themselves. The pond is already full of tadpoles and the children are really excited to watch them grow.”
