The Melton Building Society’s June Roper Sporting Trust has donated £550 to Melton Mowbray Tennis Club to help pay for an electricity supply to be connected to the clubhouse located at the Sports Village, Burton Road.
Melton Mowbray Tennis Club is a community focussed sports venue offering tennis opportunities for all ages and abilities. The club currently has around 200 members which is made up of juniors, adults, seniors and players with learning, sensory and physical disabilities.
“The clubhouse has no electricity supply which means we have no lighting or heating and limits when we can use the clubhouse. This generous donation from the Melton will ensure that the finances are all now in place for the connection of an electricity supply,” says Jason Wheatley, Melton Mowbray Tennis Club.
The June Roper Sporting Trust was set up by the Society’s Charitable Foundation to administer a donation to the Foundation made by local sportswoman June Roper in her Will and to ensure June’s legacy supports charities or non-profit making organisations or individuals from underprivileged backgrounds seeking grant aid for projects with a focus on sport.
