Melton Building Society Achieves Climate Partner Certification

The Melton Building Society is proud to announce that it has been awarded the esteemed Climate Partner certification, a testament to its dedicated efforts and ongoing commitments to significantly reduce its carbon footprint.

This honour reflects the Society’s proactive approach to going green, including a series of impactful actions and future pledges, including:

A 10% reduction in commuting by 2025, facilitated by an innovative EV scheme for colleagues through salary sacrifice and the installation of 8 free EV charging points.

Transition to exclusive use of green energy by 2024, underpinned by the installation of solar panels and the establishment of a green resource group.

The adoption of a flexible working policy to further reduce commuting emissions.

These initiatives are in alignment with the rigorous 5-step process required for Climate Partner certification:

  1. Carbon Footprints: Melton Building Society has conducted a comprehensive assessment of its corporate carbon footprint (CCF), identifying critical emission sources and strategising mitigation efforts.
  2. Reduction Targets: The Society has set ambitious reduction targets, including sourcing 80% green electricity by 2025 and achieving 100% by 2030.
  3. Reduction Measures: To realise these targets, Melton Building Society has implemented concrete measures, ensuring effective and measurable climate action.
  4. Climate Projects: In addition to internal measures, the Society is financially supporting certified climate projects that adhere to independent audits and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
  5. Transparency: Melton Building Society is committed to transparently sharing its climate journey, using the ClimatePartner label to openly communicate its actions and achievements.

Melton Building Society’s progress in climate action demonstrates its resolve to not only meet but exceed environmental standards. Its certification as a Climate Partner solidifies its position as a proactive participant in the financial sector’s green agenda.
